Hi all,
Recently purchased a Gigabyte 7600gs silent to replace my 5700le on an aging P4 agp system. Basically, when I put in the new card and start I run into a wall on booting into the system. What happens is it goes through a cycle of Windows start up, stops, goes to DOS, and tries again over and over.
I tried F8 and Safe Mode and nothing.
I replaced the card again and all is well, so I'm pretty sure it's a driver issue. My thinking for a solution would be:
1. start with 5700le normally
2. install the 7600 drivers
3. shut down
4. put in new card
5. start up and cross fingers
Now, this just a guess on my part so my basic question is "What might I be doing wrong and how can I correct the problem".
Hope it's not a BIOS flash as I have no experience with such things.
Btw - I also replaced the PSU with a new 360watt, PC Power and Cooling unit (the card is rated for 300) and everything's fine on the power side of things.
All help is appreciatied
