the curse of the 4GB

i recently upgraded my system from 2 GB of ram to new single side 4 GB of ram, however, i am noticing instability with my system, i work on ZBrush daily and the program keep crashing on me and games as well, say assassins creed for instance, not to mention sometimes Windows itself get me a msg on start up saying windows has an internal error, and that's after fresh format nothing installed but the latest drivers from nivida and the HD from realtek, this is getting really frustrating after trying so many things, i feel like the motherboard cant handle the 4 GB or maybe windows.

after installed i tried defragmenting, tweaking, done everything and i still have more than 35 GB of free disk space on C: Partition.

anybody have any idea ? or been into smilar situation like mine before !!?

my system :-

Intel Pentium D 3.40 GHz 2x2 4mb cache
ASRock 4Core1333-eSATA2 motherboard
4 GBytes DDR2 667 bus
Nividia GeForce 8500GT DDR2 1024 MB
320 GB SATA2 hard disk
Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 SP2
 
Hi mate, maybe its a problem with your voltage settings in the BIOS check in your motherboard manual if it mentioned. Hope this helps Dave :cool:
 
First I'd check the RAM using memtest as BigB suggested, then check whether your motherboard actually supports sticks of that capacity, you may need a BIOS update.

But you just upgraded to 4gb yeah? I just finished a build with 2gb of memory that was soo sensitive to voltage it wouldn't even boot (some OCZ sticks) i had to get it up with some crucial sticks, set the vdimm voltage to the specified (2.1 - as opposed to the 1.8 standard set in the bios) and then change them back, it'll be buggered if it ever gets it's bios reset- have you at least checked your voltages against your manufacturers specifications?

Even my crucial ballistix need 2.2 for full stability
