When my computer was running I accidentally unplugged the PS2 keyboard and the computer froze. Now when I try to boot it the computer beeps continuously. I have read on a website that this is a "Power supply, system board, or keyboard problem". What do I do to get the computer to boot?
First is this a desktop or laptop ? Reset the bios ...Pull the Bios battery out and see if that might fix it..
I tried the RAM stick in both ports, still doesn't work. I should probably make it clear that all the computer does is beep and run the fans at maximum speed, nothing appears on the screen. I have also tried a USB keyboard and mouse, unplugging all the drives and PCI cards, reseating the video card, unplugging and plugging in the power supply (both at the wall and the motherboard).
I hate to say this but it seems the Motherboard probably took a Dump.. It sounds like you did all the hardware checks and balances to see what the problem may be at.. Motherboards these days are made cheap and it doesn't take much to BLOW one out..
when clearing cmos are you totally killing the power to the motherboard including unpluggin the kettle lead and flicking out the battery? alot of cases people just flick the battery out but stil gotta relise the board still has power to it via kettle lead and can also not clear cmos memory.
I tried unplugging the power supply at both the wall and the motherboard and then removed and put back in the battery and it still doesn't boot.
