Compaq C700 Wont boot

Hello,
My C700, about 4 years old, will not turn on unless I lift its right part (where the CD&HD are) in the air.
If you try powering on while its on the table the fan will go on for a few seconds and then stop, power LED is on, WLAN LED stays orange.
After "lift-starting" it, it will run as usual but every little tilt will cause the screen to go black and the computer to hang.
Checked memory, it's OK.
Checked all screws are tight.
HD&CD work fine.
Please help....
 
sounds like a short somewhere maybe..If you take out the battery, and run it on AC only, What does it do ????
 
Nothing....still won't work.
I also took it apart yesterday as someone suggested, just to if there are any loose cables or something like that, didn't notice anything.
Maybe someone who had this model knows any weak spots ??
 
screen goes black but are you certain the computer is hanging?
try hooking it up to an external monitor via vga port to rule out that its not your lcd.
you may need to toggle the fn (function) + one of your keys to activate external video port.
 
This sound like a similar issue with the dv6000, this had a similar issue plus many other lol I would check for corrosion or soldering that may have corroded or came apart on the motherboard.... but this will prove very difficult to do unless you have a magnifying glass or something to be able to get right in there and have a good look.

The C700 & the dv6000 were not the best machines as they did have many faults and yours in one of them unfortunately, I wouldn't even bother with a new MOBO you should maybe think about investing in something better ;-)
