I have a couple of Thinkpad T61 notebooks where the screens have slowly aged to dim and yellow compared to new. In an attempt to get back to new screen performance, I have received 4 Samsung replacement screens from laptopscreens.com and only 1 of the 4 is white and bright. The other three are Dim and Yellow when connected to the same computer . . no better than the old screens. All 4 screens are the same Samsung Model Number, but the sticker on the back of the bright screen is graphically a different design so there is some difference in production-runs or factory.
laptopscreens.com has great service and great user reviews. They also appear to be the biggest online vendor of replacement screens. 2 of the 4 screens also have had 1 to 3 pixel issues too (stuck on Red or Blue). Do these high volume replacement screen vendors deal in "seconds" . . ones that couldn't be sold to computer makers. I have a total of 9 Thinkpads, and none of the original screens have pixel issues.
Another screen 15.4" 1280 x 800 I recently bought from this vendor was very bright but has 5 minor pixels issues. It was made my somebody I had never heard of. . . don't remember the manufacturer.
The problem Samsung Screens are 14.1" 1024 x 768 resolution, which haven't been used in new laptops for about 3 years. Could that somehow be part of the problem with getting replacements that perform like new ?
