I don't know if any of you came across this raving fool and his speech on net neutrality. The fact that he's trying to pass a law about something he is completely clueless about really gets me. Check it out: http://www.alternet.org/columnists/story/38816/ There's even a goofy techno song parodying his pathetic speech with a bunch of sound bites thown in. http://www.boldheaded.com/2006/07/dj-ted-stevens-techno-remix-series-of.html
I'm just glad I don't live in the states when stuff like this comes up. That's like that one lady who campaigned to shut down the internet all together. Some people need a reality check.
That and it would really hurt the economy, given the business that traffics the internet... Just like our elected royalty that have no clue about the facts on video games, they have no clue about the internet (or at least thats the reporting we see). Do I expect them to be experts? Hell no. However, before making a law on something, get a fucking crash course on the subject.
Yeah like everything it has it's upsides and it's downsides, the thing that ultimately makes something bad is the people who use it. The Internet itself cannot be blamed for these problems, it should be the people who use it, granted it can be difficult to find the right people on something that's as advanced and big as the Internet.
Saying that the internet is bad because you can find something like kiddie p0rn on it is like saying highways are bad because people have accidents on them. Go after the source, not the medium.
