hello when i play online games like CS /TFC /HL and especially NFS the fps jerks from 50 (or so) to 0. it only happens on online gaming mode, even hosting on NFS it still does it, i have good ping and broadband >4mb so wots goin on
what is your ping exatly at? i mean i am on 2mb, well 3mb and i still get lag in some servers, it depends how far away you are from the server, are you downloading anything whilst your playig in the online game? It must be a network problem as you said its only in online gaming mode, i dont think its your hardware , most likely software config. Also, i was playing in San Andreas Multiplayer, and Unreal Tournament 2004, and i notice that sometimes if there is a really laggy player in there, you go near him, then your jerking and lagging
pings are as good as >45ms in cs /tfc. i dont know how to check latency times in nfs (ill try tab :chk its not that easy to spot in cs, but in nfs its bad enough to cause a lot of crashes
well ive only noticed since playin nfs online, cs isnt actually that bad to complaign about but nfs seems to hold the gold medal for this jerky crap - somethings not right somewhere
How long has this been a problem? Im with NTL BB and get mega slowdown on online games. latency is fine but lag becomes a major factor. Thought is was a network prob so contacted NTL. Ntl currently merging with telewest so most european game servers being routed via US. "thanks for the advance warning Ntl" Also could be down to the game server trying to use the cheapest route avaliable via tokyo, chicago and moscow causing the lag time. Only game ive encountered without any probs is Battlefield 2 Well hope you can gain something useful from this post. Kev
