I have an Asrock 939dual-Sata2

I try to install the SATA2 drivers but the stupid thing that I tried to install was... Well, it said "Will now restart." but it never restarts and never actually freaking installs anything.

So yeah, when I tried putting in my hdd, the bios kinda doesn't detect it, but windows DOES detect a mass storage device. Unfortunately, I can't find it in the discwizard thing.

So, I think the problem is the drivers. How do I install those?
 
try downloading the drivers on a friends system and put them on a disc, install CD's don't always word with new hardware,

presumably you can boot

try scaning for viruses & spyware
 
What do you mean in that the BIOS kinda doesn't detect it?
I couldn't give you the exact location, but you may want to make sure the SATA controllers are enabled. They're most likely under Integrated Peripherials. I'd also try another SATA cable just in case you have a bad cable---which will cause all sorts of hell.

Have you checked Disk Management?

-Right-click 'My Computer'
-Go to and click on Manage
-Expand 'Storage' (if not done already)
-Click 'Disk Management'

Any drive that's connected should be there. If this is a new and/or unformatted drive, you'll need to format it. You can right-click on it and bring up a menu to partition and format the drive.

Okay, when I load up bios, I have to put the setting for my SATA II (where my drive is plugged in) controller to Enabled instead of Auto. Even then it won't detect anything actually plugged into the drive. However, if I leave it on enabled, disk management shows that it is actually there. I can use it as I wish, but there are three things off:

1) When I go to Discwizard to try and install it the automatic way, the JMicron thing I use to detect my sata2 driver won't be able to detect the harddrive. Instead, it detects my CDROM CDR/RW drive (which is plugged into the second IDE slot).

2) When I try using my sata drive in a deep way (I can put one or two gigs into it at a time, but if I try moving tens of gigs into it), it crashes my computer. Not BSOD, but like, it makes it so that I can't do anything anymore with my box. Some programs will still work (winamp and aim), but explorer.exe will crash, and I can't use ctrl alt del to end the process and restart. I also can't shut down or restart in this condition so I'm forced to illegal shut down.

3) When I'm using my sata drive slightly, it starts making my computer skip every 5 seconds or so. By skip i mean winamp will stop for about a second as well as my mouse and then start working normally again.

So for now I've turned the SATAII controller back to auto so that it won't detect my drive. I'll come back after I try another cable. Lol
 
Do what BigB said, you should see a disk with "Unallocated" status. Thats your new, unformatted drive, right click it and partition it. Then format it. Restart and you should be good.
 
Ok! so you have two drives, 1 is SATA and 2nd is IDE. Windows is installed on IDE and starting up properly, which means device priority in BIOS is correct.
As you said, when you starts up your computer your computer displays a message that mass storage device is detected. Which means everything is fine and fully working, just required couple of things to do.
Those things are the same what Big B has suggested.....
You have to go to the Disk Management (RightClick MyComputer > Manage > Disk Management) and there on the right hand side bottom, you will find your SATA drive. Right click on it and Initialise it. You will have to format it and assign a letter as well to it.....

There's still a problem with the crashing, even after formatting/whatever

I bought a new cable and the problem persists.

Why does my hdd show up as a cdrom?
