Ive read that formating conventional hard disks is not enough to prevent people from accessing information on them. Special software is needed to completely wipe everything on the drive.
Ive read that new solid state drives (SSD) have a number of advantages over convential types. Do they...
Hi guys,
Im using speedfan to monitor my CPU temperatures on my laptop. It reads 41C when laptop is idle. Speedfan also gives me a ACPI temperature reading which is 39C when laptop is idle (but fluncuates quite a bit...up to 44 sometimes for no apparent reason!) Both temperatures increase...
Hi all, Im looking to buy a temperature sensor so i can monitor both my CPU and graphics card temperatures. Can ye recommend a good one to buy?
Do they need an external battery or can they be powered via 1 of the ports on a PC. Any information on them would be very much appreciated.

I read that overclockers "overvolt" their CPUs. Is this simply to run the processor at a higher frequency? (As a voltage controlled oscillator?)
Is there any other reasons for overvolting your processor?
Here is a sample of the readings taken from the bios just after running lm sensors. Why is it showing 2 different sets of temperture readings? They were taken just after 1 another!!
Im running a program called lm-sensors on my computer. It monitors the current state of my hardware. Here is an example of the output it gives.......

2. Ive read that a thermal diode resides on the processor die. Does the heath monitoring chip access this temperture reading?

Does anyone know where I can get information on the relationship between desktop/laptop powering up/down cycles and its effect on the reliability of the system.

If your code was only to be stored there..ie..nothing be pointing to it, and leave the manufacturers untouched it shouldnt create problems or am i wrong to assume that?
