Hi ive run into a problem when trying to upgrade my graphics card from a Nvidia gtx 650 to a ATI Radeon HD 5870. Once installed everything seemed to be running fine until the computer suddenly hung up as i was internet browsing, causing me to turn it off using the power button. once off i tried to turn it back on and it turned itself off nearly instantly after a few more attempts it did manage to turn back on and work fine again. Once on i didnt run into any problems for an hour or so until the exact same thing happened again. later i ran battlefield 4 on high graphics for 30 mins without issue, then tried to play left for dead 2 and it kept closing the game every 5 minutes. any help would be greatly appreciated. AMD Radeon HD 5870 (sorry) and as far as i know the drivers for the card are up to date aswell, i ran windows update on the card and manualy downloaded the latest supporting catalyst. I was also running this Card on a previous computer with no issues so it shouldnt be a malfunction with the card. the PSU is 800 watt
coolmaster silent pro gold 800 watt on its previous computer it was running with a GW 700W power supply
Windows 7 (x64) was recently re-installed and everything was formatted, it was also having the same problem with another graphics card befor that on the old windows install so i dont think that will work.
Seems that the 2 video cards are different brand. I would would suggest we reset the Bios default, then install the new mobo chipset driver, reboot, then install the new driver for the new video card. Hope this helps. Bill Tech Manager, WPTinc.
