I use Windows 7 32 bit on all my low end Computers, Over six of them will have Windows7 32 bit.. The rest will have either 64 bit or Linux on them..

I think your Problem is you have it backwards..The OS must be before the second drive or it will not work /run right.. I believe C: drive is almost always set to Default.
You need to install your OS to C: drive then have D: drive for what ever want.. Give it a try...
Do you have the motherboard system sound hooked up... If this is a Desktop, open the case and look at the front panel wiring pins.. look for system sound and unplug it.
