    Pentium D 805 - 52 on idle

CPU Voltage is showing at 1.36 to 1.40 (keeps changing). When the CPU went up to 78* I instantly shut down and removed the fan. 20-30 seconds after seeing this reading I had touched the processor and found it not to be so hot. It was very warm but nothing like 78*.

    Pentium D 805 - 52 on idle

I installed a Pentium D 805 into a complete, new system. Processor: Pentium D 805 Mobo: P5LD2 Deluxe RAM: 1024MB DDR2 @ 667MHz Case: Thermaltake Soprano Cooling: Two large case fans, one small case fan and stock Intel CPU heatsink+fan. I noticed today that my CPU's temperature had...

Installing XP on my SATA drive.

Okay, the floppy disk drive wasnt working properly as i had originally thought. I now have it working. When installing windows it finds the driver on A and I can install it. But at the end of this installation 'starting windows' or something - i get the same error message. About my hard disk...

Installing XP on my SATA drive.

I'm feeling very dead unfortunately. BIOS detects the harddrive, but windows installation fails. No matter what drivers I put on a floppy disk (I've tried about 4 different ones), the setup doesn't read it. Could it be a problem with the floppy drive? It doesnt appear in BIOS (not sure if it...

Installing XP on my SATA drive.

After building a rig I went ahead and started up the XP installation. Nearing the end of this installation, it fails due to not having the right drivers for my hard disk. I have tried all the drivers I could find, but none will work. At the beginning of XP installation it says to press F6 to...

How do you make your pics visable to online users...

Yes, you are correct in thinking that. The image source when dragged from your hard disk would be like so: C:\imagefolder\image.gif When the page is opened, the viewer's browser will look for that same path on the viewers hard disk. So unless that folder and file exist on the viewer's hard...

    gaming system

Ebuyer.co.uk is a good site and has some tasty prices. I based my rig's pricing off ebuyer, I am in Budapest, Hungary so I can't use any sort of internet-based retailer.

    Budget Gamer

Well for gaming I would stick to Windows XP. As you will have less trouble getting them to work - most games are build for windows. Though you could try Linux, since it's free. You're sort of stuck between: "Should I wait for Vista" and "Is it worth buying XP at this moment in time". You...

    The Perpetual Upgrade Thread

Well here's my setup, expecting the parts soon. Intel Pentium D 805 (2.66MHz - looking to OC this baby to 3.XXGHz) 1024MB DDR2 RAM at 667MHz ASUS P5LD Deluxe XFX 6600GT (saving myself some cash for the DX10 cards) Caviar SE 250Gb Thermaltake Soprano (Black)

    Core 2 Duo Compatible

Yeah, Newegg has a much larger range than ebuyer (which I currently use). I think im just going to use a mobo that supports Pentium D, I can always get a new one if I upgrade to Core 2 Duo.

    Core 2 Duo Compatible

Are these all compatible with the Pentium Ds? Just want to verify it as I am ready to order soon. I also noticed that some of the boards are not SLI ready. So really I'm looking at the P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe or the P5NSLI. -Josh

    AMD 64 3000+ vs AMD 64 X2 4200+

Yeah I am pretty sure my CRT was on its way. I just tried it now in America's Army. And it is certainly slower - the colours are also starting to get a little messed. Since I am not gaming 24/7, I spend time watching DVDs, web design and browsing the internet, an LCD is much better for me.

    AMD 64 3000+ vs AMD 64 X2 4200+

vol7ron, Sorry for hurting your CRTs, but when I shared my opinion I was not referring to each and every CRT and LCD out there. I actually shared an experience - before I bought the LCD I was doubtful for the same reason, would I be buying into a negative effect upon my games? The answer...

    Core 2 Duo Compatible

Hey, I am building a new PC soon with an Intel Pentium D 805 processor. In the future, (possibly in 1 year) I will be looking to change to Core 2 Duo, but would like to keep the memory and motherboard. On ASUS's website, they display a range of their motherboards which support Core 2 Duo...

    AMD 64 3000+ vs AMD 64 X2 4200+

Sorry :) Just don't want you to miss out on something which would be the perfect upgrade. It has given my computer a new lease of life just by upgrading the monitor. Games are more responsive and look a lot better. I would definately get an LCD some time in the future, if not now. I can sit...

    AMD 64 3000+ vs AMD 64 X2 4200+

I don't agree with the comment about CRTs being faster for gaming, and personally I wouldn't ever go back to CRT. I have a Fujitsu Siemens 17" LCD (8ms delay). The image quality is absolutely fantastic. Everything is much smoother, and my games look better. I can actually feel that the monitor...

Dual Core - A few questions.

I would recommend the Intel Pentium D 805 for a budget processor - which if you are willing to overclock, will perform as well as Intel's Extreme Edition processors. At stock its 2.66GHz x 2 with a 533MHz bus speed (other Pentium D's are 800MHz stock). Toms Hardware Guide overclocked the 805 to...

    Overclocking my P4

My P4 is B0. It's the same as you have, Zeus. After having overclocked it to 2.5GHz, I experienced crashing when the CPU usage increased: for example when loading America's Army (PC Game). I now have it running stable at 2.4GHz. As for the RAM, I know I shouldn't but I mixed two sticks of...

    Overclocking my P4

Well, I need to know more about RAM timings, on full load my system crashes. I reset the RAM timings to default and it runs fine at 2.50GHz.
