Correct AGP 8X is backward compatible. But, watch out, on a LOT of current boards, AGP 4X is the minimum it can go, anything less than AGP4X will burjn your board, or the sensors will tell you that an card less than AGP4X is in there, if you have a decent board. Just rember, no AGP 8X Cards...
