I'd just bite the bullet and format it, reinstall all your programs.
Try running in safe mode and removing all your old drivers from the previous mobo. Then reboot in normal mode and cross your fingers.

It's the same as an internal HDD, just with a casing and connected via usb, so you shouldn't have any issues.
