Indeed. FAT can only handle files of a certain size. More information is needed.

    Hardware Forums Rocks!

Blimey, takes me back to the reason why I joined up to HWF in my fake "Jon Benge" guise - to slag of VIA... LOL. "Memories, oh precious memories" as that old song goes...

    The best PSX game

On the PSX my favourite game would have to be Wipeout 2097. Upon release it was simply sensational and had an excellent sound track. For replay value, nothing on the PSX beats it for me. As for games on consoles of earlier ilk, Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers is my favorite. NO ONE can...

    FREE Crossover Office!!

I am pretty sure Codeweavers said to wait up until end of November because of the insane demand placed on their servers. Unfortunately I did not download the unlocked MAC builds but if you've got a Linux box lying around I can give you the unlocked Linux builds :)

    Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex

Ubuntu's Intrepid Ibex was released the other day and I thought I'd spend a couple of minutes to give my opinion on this release... I'll start off by saying that I have no intention of upgrading to this release. I want to make it clear that is no fault of the Ubuntu developers. It's simply the...

    Low disk space on /

I've since discovered that the /tmp drive is cleared automatically in Ubuntu after every reboot so I decided not to tamper with it. I suppose 2.5GB free space for a / partition should be OK, but I do intend to keep my installation of Ubuntu 8.04 LTS until the next LTS in 2 years. I suppose it...

    Registry cleaners/fixers and others?

I actually purchased Tune-Up Utilities 2006 & 2007 because the included registry cleaner is so good. As a free alternative, I'd suggest CCleaner. It's not as feature rich as Tune-Up, but the registry cleaner does a good job

    Low disk space on /

I am running out of disk space on my root partition! I've only got 2.5GB left (from 10GB). I've already removed any unnecessary packages. How else can I free space from the root drive? Are there any log files I can purge? Can I defragment the ext3 partition? Can I use any compression tools...

Asus EEE PC 2G on the way

Do you plan to keep Xandros or install Windows XP? I've not used the modified version of Xandros on the EEE but it looks a little too basic from the screenshots I've seen. But I suppose if all you want to do is surf the internet and chat online than it should fulfill those requirements easily.

need advice which course to attend

The MCSE accreditation goes some way to prove your skills and will certainly help you get one foot through the door come interview, but then its up to you to show what you can do. Nothing beats real world experience. I achieved MCSE by self tutoring. I simply bought the necessary Microsoft...

Asus EEE PC 2G on the way

You didn't say whether you got an EEE with Xandros or Windows XP? I must admit i've fallen for the big netbook craze at the moment. I plan to purchase a Dell Mini Inspiron 9 w/ Ubuntu in the coming months. Can't wait!

    FREE Crossover Office!!

There is no doubt in my mind that Microsoft Office is the best office suite available, and seeing Office 2007 run on Ubuntu 8.04 is excellent! Crossover integrates Office well with the Linux desktop, so that when I open a Word document in Nautilus, Word automatically opens.

    vi

I think I may need to hack Swansen's signature one more time to read "Times inadvertently confused people in threads: 9999999999999999999999999 times" Nano is the prefered cli text editor in Ubuntu, except for the Visudo command, which now opens Vim instead of nano. That's why I've been risking...

operating on a hard drive / clicking

If I have read you post properly you have actually changed the disks inside the hard drive? Holy crap! I don't think anyone will be able to suggest what to do next. You might need to go to a specialist organisation

    computer gone mad

Can you clarify what you installed? Did you download the firmware from Abit and use their tools to flash it? You might find that flashing your BIOS has reset the settings to factory default. You might want to check that the correct hard drive is set to boot from. If the above is correct...
