It's a measure of data that's been processed through the Folding @ Home distributed computing project. It's a totally volunteer thing to do. Basically, you download and install the distributed computing software and it runs in the background, using CPU cycles you don't. F@H in particular is an ongoing project to help find cures for cancer and other such diseases. People can go solo, but mostly join a team, like ours. Usually, they're members of other techie forums, like [H]ard|OCP and 2CPU (which, ATM, are out of our league).
