6-phase power or 8-phase power on motherboard?

I have a motherboard with a 6-phase hybrid PWM and I might get a new motherboard with a 8-phase digital PWM my question is is there any difference between 6-phase and 8-phase I am running a quad core CPU a Q6600 overclocked to 3.2GHz will there be any difference in performance with 8-phase will it be faster or will it be the same performance as 6-phase

More phase power's the better, to determin your phase powers simply count the ferrite core chokes surrounding the cpu socket only. The reason why it's better because it stores energy and prevents power loss. more power lost more heat will be generated. The PWM's just monitor the voltage regulators output. There won't be much difference in having 6 phase or 8 phase power, it doesn't increase speed. It makes the system more power efficent.

Okay I see now that question has been bugging me for months but I haven't been able to get the right answer now that I got the right one I can finally decide on what motherboard to get thanks.
