A few hardware questions, again

If you compare US and EU prices (especially those of newer hardware) you notice that the EU is damn expensive.

Now the sad part is that I live in Slovenia, which means that Hardware is by all means even more expensive then the rest of Europe :x:

I have access to, well all countries in Europe. I heard that the UK is expensive. However apparently Germany is cheaper than the rest of EU, anybody from Germany here that can confirm this?

You probably read another post in which I was planning to buy a new computer, but then again since I'm not a fan of PC fps games, and mostly use my PC for rts games, I figured I’ll just buy a new vista ready laptop and upgrade the multimedia functionality of my home.
So yes I’m planning to get:
-Vista ready laptop
-ps3
-wii
-HP x5400 Linksys Media Center extender
-HP TouchSmart IQ770 PC (that's not for me but it seems that half of my family wants it :mad:, waste of money, but it sounds cool :P . Google it for more info.)

I already own a Sony Bravia something. All I can say is that it's huge.

So yeah 2 questions:
Where can I buy this, with no EU tax imposed on it?
And what laptop do you recommend?
Makes sure, that the Laptop will be able to run Aero, and that it’ll be capable of playing the newest RTS games at near full graphics.

Hi, well i talked to some people, and they said that Germany used to be the cheapest with 16% VAT, now its 19%, the UK has 17.5% VAT which would make us cheaper than Germany.

Seems like Poorer eastern countries in Europe have a lower VAT rate though.

Hi, what RTS games are you thinking of? i think that your going to be needing a preety expensive £1500+ laptop for high end RTS gaming depending on what RTS your thinking of mainly.

I'm mostly an AoE II player :D

But nvm that, what I want is basically medium high graphics on games such as AoE III, Company of Heroes, and Act of War. I also want Medieval Total War II to run smoothly. And I also want to make sure that the laptop will be able to run new RTS games for at least another 2 years.

This time though, I want the laptop already made (means no building by myself or the likes).
I guess I would be classified as a medium traveller, so no fancy 17' inch screens and all that. 15.4 wide would do I guess?

Also, I heard that overclocking is really useful at laptops. Now I know what overclocking is, but how you do it, when you do it, and is it safe to do it... that I don't know.
So yes, what laptop do you recommend? And try to make sure it's something between 1300 pounds - 1500 pound. Possibly less.

Overclocking aint reccommended for Laptops because of the small area inside and small fans, they would overheat easily, also you cant build laptops as far as i know, laptops come ready made everywere.

Well i'm going to sleep now, but tomorrow I'll compare Alienware UK and Alienware Germany, prices.

I think Germany is cheaper, but we'll see.


EDIT: You sure 17' inch is good? Sounds big.
 
17" seems the standard for Gaming laptops, maybe it is big, but that cant be much of a problem :p, its still a laptop.

Also Alienware is actually cheaper in Germany.

Well apart from Alienware, anybody recommend anything else? Any other laptop?
