why do you want a NAS that comes with software [ot]Win boy[/ot] genarally Bufallo NAS's are usually resonably priced.
personally i have an old LinkStation Lite (LS-CHL) which will have Debi on it and any OSS i choose to throw at it, when i decide to reassemble it & sort this WRT3500L with tomato on it but a disabled DHCP server :doh:

About NAS! I would like to keep my data in RAID.....I like your server idea but it requires lot of space....Debi....any Linux operating system...i dont know how to use!, data i wanna keep on the hard drive are my pictures, which i dont want to lose:( More suggestions??

probably cos i'm "STILL" learning stuff and don't usually have time 4 HWF:(
i meant i have an old LinkStation which will have Debian or other firmware thrown at it.
and DHCP is disabled by default so i used DHCP server in old Zyxel P660H-D1 to access WNR3500L
I might use WNR3500L as a dev board, dunno, yet!
well, have you considered just slinging another HDD in the box ?

atleast you are still up with computer stuff....I have no time for computerz as m too busy with my business....
but how do you store your data?? do you have RAID system in it??? Sata HDD? fast enough on network??

well I've 2 :swear: (Win boxes) both with SATA HDD and a few dismantled boxes (mostly IDE) a dismantled NAS (SATA inside) I'm curious about RAID and RAIN (multiple NICs, kinda similar to RAID), USB pensKaranislove said:

I havent started building my own because im a little new to this and i am first planning to build a home-router using alpine ,but it was the best one I,ve and often mentioned I found during on of my nightly research sessions.
