Why is it that the simplest :swear: things can confuse so man :swear: people! I mean seriously, READ THE :SWEAR: MANUAL... fair enough if you want help configuring <insert name of software> or you want to have something explained to you because the :swear: manual isn't very specific or badly written but some people really have no :swear: excuse for there blatant stupidity.

In real life if someone is explaining something to you i suppose its fair enough to ask again, because your not going to get everything first time.... but when its printed or on a :swear: website READ IT AGAIN dip:swear:.

The most recent case (who will sadly there identity will remain :swear: anonymous & there problem unknown) was unable to do something that one of the kids i work with (there on the autistic spectrum and, unfortunately, has to be mildly sedated 24/7 making them very dopey) did no problem at all, first time without me having to explain it.

Do you ever think that people deliberately :swear: find you just to ask the most stupid :swear: questions just to see how :swear: long you will last?:-

"I did this wrong and it might have damaged it, if i do it the right way is it still going to work?"

I DON'T :swear: KNOW! WHY DON'T YOU DO IT THE RIGHT :SWEAR: WAY AND FIND OUT :swear:!!! yes I'm always happy to :swear: help, as long as its a technical :swear: problem and not because of your :swear: inability to plug A into :swear: B (unless your physically disabled, in which case i will be more than happy to lend a hand).

But seriously, why the :swear: do we have to think for other people? has TV actually made people that stupid or is it something in the water?

And what the :swear: has happened to education? HNC computing was a serious joke... its well suited to anyone who is thinking about becoming a secretary (why the :swear: are things like Micro$oft :swear: Word core :swear: units???). And as for HND Software, surely knowing visual basic and javascript does not make you fit to be a :swear: programmer... where have the real languages gone? (if it had covered C i *might* have considered taking that side of the HND).

anyway, I'm going to kick things around the :swear: garden and feed a few tree's through a wood chipper to raise some cash for my 18th.

Human stupidity knows no limit, especially with technology. Take these two classic examples of how both users and tech support should have taken a few more lessons.

Example 1:

User: My screen is blank.
Tech Support: Have you tried moving the mouse or pressing a button on the keyboard?
User: Yes, I've tried that and made sure the mains power was on, but the screen is still blank and the power switch doesn't have a light on it.
Tech Support: Is the monitor powered on?
User: Oh... that fixed it!
Tech Support: ....

Example 2: (I kid you not this ACTUALLY happened to me)

Me: My mouse isn't responding at all, it's plugged into the computer, I've tried it in a few different USB ports but still nothing.
Tech Support: Alright, I'll walk you through what you need to do. First off click on the Start Menu icon.
Me: *silence*
Tech Support: (After a bit of silence) Oh, you can't do that, can you? Uh... we'll send you a new mouse.

Seriously, I swear some people came from the shallow end of the gene pool... either that or it needs a fresh batch of chlorine.

lol, who's tech support was that? (and do they not know you can control the mouse pointer with the keyboard, and that you can navigate to the setting to turn that on with the keyboard?)

no dude, i completely know what your are talking about with the education and the needless crap that you have to learn, like office stuff, and visual basic, granted, a decent amount of programs are made with visual basic, but anyways, yeah i completely get that, waisted a lot of money because there was no other way around it.

how can people be so fu:swear:ing retarded??? i had to copy some files off a computer with a dead install of windows on it, i did this with a LiveCD and a FTP server that i installed on one of the other winblows boxes at my work.

Now, i had to login to the administrator account to install Filezilla server... this really shouldn't have caused the slightest bother, but i had to leave it logged in when i went to get my last bus (files still transferring, with a note in notepad explaining in detail what was happening and what to do next [burn the files to a cd])... that was yesterday, i just called my work to make sure that everything was ok...

ever heard anyone say that the most dangerous people are the one that know a *little* about computers? well, its true, and i have the evidence.

the guy who uses the computer that i transfered the files to thought that he had lost all his files... so he did a system restore, and all he needed to do was logout and login as himself.

Now it looks like i'm the one at fault that fu:swear:ed it all up because of some fu:swear:ing TWAT, but the question is what the fu:swear: do i do now? i think this is why admins try to lock down the computers so staff can't change anything... its too much hassle and a danger to your reputation.

Here's a solution to your problem, find out who did it, and when he's next in, take a monkey wrench to the back of his head, repeatedly.

But... if you want a solution that WON'T get you imprisoned, well... perhaps try and explain the situation to your superior.
