Access Denied, Drive c:

For the last couple of weeks whenever I start up my Dell 8250 PC with Windows XP Pro and when the Norton SystemWorks tries to start up I get a Windows Protection Box that says: Access Denied, Drive C: -- OK -- After I click on the OK button Norton continues to complete it's startup.
Yesterday when I was updating my system with the Win XP SP2 Wizard partly into the run I got this same message and this Wizard would not proceed and it backed out all what it had done.
Does anyone know what this box is trying to tell me ?
Do I have hard drive problems ?
What do I do ?

Right click My Computer> Manage>Event.......
and select
Software: Double click the event on top with red colour. Copy the whole thing and paste here.
Hardware: Same like software.....

I right click My Computer and then click Manage and I get Computer Managment Box -- I then don't see the Event and then Software or Hardware items to get into to copy ?
What am I doing wrong ?

Under Computer Management you will find system tools and under system tools you will find the event viewer...

Edit: And under Event Viewer, you will find both Hardware and software...

I found Event Viewer -- I assume that Software is Application and Hardware is System.
The problem is there is many rows of Info and numerous Red ones for each category ---

Application = Hanging application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2800.1106, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.

Hardware = The server {F3A614DC-ABE0-11D2-A441-00C04F795683} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

Don't know which red ones you want to see ?

I have no idea, why is this hapenning but I can suggest something. Remove the Antivirus you have at the moment and see if that error goes. If not then download all the latest updates of your drivers, windows and antivirus and see if that error goes away
otherwise run all the hardware test
Type chkdsk in Run to check the HDD.
Run memtest86 overnight to check the RAM.
or any other possible test
If it doest go away
Then software test..
Like Antivirus......

And still if doesnt go away then Put windows CD and use windows repair function.......

Thank you for all your help.

I removed Norton SystemWorks 2006 and the system is flying and no signs of the dreaded message box.
I am going to update my system with Windows SP2 in a few minutes and the last two times I did this about half through the update I also got that same message box -- hopefully I won't this time.

Me too regarding not having to do the whole thing.

I am going to install Microsofts "Windows Live - One Care" Antivirus / Spyware software -- have you heard any vibes on this package ?

I also have been using Spy Sweeper for many years for Spyware and that product works great.

I would suggest you to read [link=http://www.hardwareforums.com/windows-xp-security-guide-9738/]Windows Security Guide first[/link] before going with One Care AV. This guide will provide you the best way to secure your system including free anti viruses etc... It will only take your 5mins but it will worth a lot more to you......
