ActiveX controls and security settings

Scenario: I type something in MS Word. Copy and Paste it in OE email and get this message: “Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, this page may not display correctly”.
(I click OK. The page displays all right to me, but why this message?)

Q – 1. What’s ActiveX controls?

Q – 2. What security settings is the message referring to?
a) Windows Security Center: Firewall, Automatic Updates, and Virus Protection all ON. or,
b) The security tab in Outlook Express: > Tools > Options > Security tab.
In the security tab I have checked: Internet zone…, Warn me..., and Do not allow….

hi m8 active c is ok although like many things it can be used maliciously. if you are running on windows xp this is a usual warning just stating that if its bad it won't run. but if u know the source than ull hav no probs m8, its just another security feature. hope this helps Dave :good:

Yes, I’m running on Windows XP pro. I should have mentioned that. And since it displays all right, not to worry. Thanks for the explanation. I’m not good on acronyms. I figure you dropped the X after active, and c stands for controls. What does m8 stand for?
