amd newcastle san diego? what the

can some help me i have decided to buy an amd 64bit 3000+ but know i dont no which one to get newcastle san diego etc etc can some explain this to me and recomend which one?

newcastle and winchester are older versions, and i seriously would disrecommend getting them, the new core venice and san diego are much more stable, perform better at lower temps and hold SSE3 support

venice- known for overclocking
san diego- known, for just being awesome lol
 
The 3000+ is not a SanDiego chip. Go with the Venice core as it's an insane overclocker as zRock said and will only set you back $150. Happy gaming.

one can u give me a qucik guide about how to over clock and i can only find the 3000+ for £99.00 from ebuyer.com anyone know somewere better?

The very basics of overclocking consist of bumping up the fsb in little incriments. Checking for stability and raising the voltage of your memory ever so slightly when you encounter instability. Never raise the voltage very far though.

understand that apart frm 'fsb' and hoe do i raise voltage in my memory?
 
the cheap one is OEM, meaning you dont get a cooler, but you can get a better than stock cooler (quite cheap) from the same place (look at the arctic cooling freezer series)
 
Ok, not to rain on your parade, but I would advise against overclocking. Unless you have a temperature monitor, good hardware to back up the CPU, and a very good knowledge of computer hardware and how overclocking, you can be doing more harm than 300 Mhz is good. Read up and ask questions, and then start experimenting.

I would advise reading a few walkthroughs on some sites like the OC forums for example. But modern AMD chips (or intel for that matter) are overclocked exclusively in the BIOS. The memory voltage should be under advanced chipset settings (or something like that).

well i have got a tempature monitor so i will start to read up on it now thanks
 
If you have your cpu voltage set to none. is that the default. It does not allow you to change it up or down, from what I can see ?.
