Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe and memory

I think I have installed an incorrect memory on my motherboard. It continues to crash occasionally despite running memory checking software to check for faults. I've written a few threads and the advice given has (slowly) allowed me to rectify the crash problems.

The memory used is the Kingston KVR400X64C3A/512 (x 2). Now reading up about RAM I note that Asus recommend the KVR400X64 memory but in a 2.5 latency. As you can see, I am using 3 latency (whatever that is?) - Ooopps.

Can anyone tell me what I should do here? Is there a way I can get the board to run a CL3 at 2.5? If not, should I buy a 512mb stick and if so which is the best for this Asus board?
 
It's possible that you can run that memory @ 2.5 but not a given.

I suggest you run all the test from Memtest86 at least twice. If you get errors, change the memory, if not, then look elsewhere.

What power supply do you have ?
 
While it may not fly with your config, I'd still keep that Kingston around. It can still be of use for a setup not requiring the RAM to run at PC3200 speeds. Or you can always sell it and recoup some cash.
