Hey guys. I'm having an issue that stemmed from another problem I was having. After deciding that my only option was to try to install a 64-bit version of Win7 instead of a 32-bit version, I made a bootable USB with Win7x64, but my mobo won't recognise the USB stick when I attempt to change the boot order in my BIOS. My BIOS version is 2302, just updated it today.
Additional infos:
0) I don't have access to DVD-Rs right now, which is why I'm struggling with this.
1) The stick is FAT32 formatted. I did it manually using this tutorial.
2) I then used BurnAware to 'Copy to Image' from the Win7 .iso I had mounted using Daemon Tools.
3) I then rebooted, hit DEL to enter setup, and went to BOOT. I changed the boot order to Removable (1st) and HDD (2nd).
4) My Win7x86 started up as normal, no boot from USB.
5) I then restarted, pressed F8 to pull up the temporary boot menu, and looked for my USB stick. It's not there! Under Removable Device there is the option for Floppy (which I don't have, and which is disabled in my BIOS anyway), and an entry reading 0.00
6) After some experimentation, it appears that depending on which USB port I have my stick plugged into, the entry 0.00 moves in the boot menu. For example, if I have it plugged into either of my front ports, the entry is under the Removable heading, but if I have it plugged into any of the four slots on the back of my machine (directly into the mobo) the entry in the boot menu appears under the HDD heading.
Any ideas on how I can make my mobo recognise and boot from this USB stick? Thank you in advance, I really appreciate any help with this.
