Audigy or OnBoard ???

I need a suggestion regarding my sound card. I have the Abit Fatal1ty AN8 SLi MOBO, and they provided a separate PCIe 1X Sound Card with it.
Now I have my old Creative Audigy Gamer too (PCI) ,....
Which one is better?? Should i swape the abit sound card with the Audigy or not,..??
 
Obviously the Audigy Gamer is going to be better-it,s a soundblaster after all!
But your not going to notice much difference at all between them, the advantage being that using the Audigy you can play your games with EAX enabled!
The add-in card that came with the mobo will do the job!
 
Onboard sound is ok for most things, but since its integrated directly into the mobo, interference and noise from adjacent traces and components may cause a problem on some of them.
 
I agree with Addis and Pelvis. You aren't going to notice a huge diffence between the one that came with it and the audigy, but since you already have the audigy, I'd go ahead and put it in.
 
I'd try them both out and see. While the Audigy is arguably a better card, I've found the original Audigy to be no better than the SoundBlaster Live. However, some peoples ears are more sensative to different sounds than I am, so your tastes may differ. I'd still try 'em both out and see if you can tell any difference. If you can't, save yourself a PCI slot.
 
All you guys have bom mobos! So I cannot comment on them....

I only have a crapy ASRock and my onboard chip (C-Media) absolutly, without a doubt, 100% Suck!!!.

Give me even a 'SoundBlast Value' card anyday......

With out a shadow of a doubt - put it where it belong - in that lovely PCI slot of yours....steady....... :confused:
 
yeah you could see if the onboard one is good enough but if you've got it then use the audigy one, i mean why just leave it to gather dust outside of your computer when it can gather dust inside..:P
 
To be honest, i haven't really felt any difference between the Audigy X gamer (in my Pentium III) and my (not exactly) onboard (daughter sound Card) sound except for that EAX factor.
So, I will do the swaping but only when I have all the time in the world and nothing else to do,.. ( which is kind of rare).
Regarding the Sound Quality, I once read that apart from the Sound card, the quality of the sound also very much depends on the Speaker. The more expensive the speakers the better sound you get.
Now I have the Logitech 5.1 Z640 (roughly $30 right now) , is it fair to the sound card or not,..??
 
I was talking with regards to price. I think good speakers are the one that should cost like a hundred bucks or something,..
As for mine,.. I am a big fan of logitech,.. lol. I think they really make quality stuff,..
