So everything ran fine just a few days ago.
But suddenly when I went to start my computer the day after the text saying "insert boot disk blablabla u know...." came upp.
I went into bios to check if my disk were recognized but it doesnt show anywhere that it is. what may be the problem here ? I mean 2 hard drives cant just break at the same time right ?:x:

has anything changed between it working and it not ?

it is more likely that the HDD controller has failed than 2 HDDs

BTW: have you tried autodetect ?

Edit: out of interest, what HDD interface are they using ?

these are two Seagate sata disks.
yea, the bios is set to auto and I cant think of anything that might have changed. First thing that came into my mind was somekind of a virus because I have been running a while without any virus protection at all.

Edit : well , I just tried unplugging the disks to the mother board and connecting them to other sata ports and now I can se one of the drives in my bios.

Drives not showing up in BIOS isn't a virus.

Its usually that the jumpers need changing (some motherboards might only show a drive if you make it master/slave as opposed to CS), faulty power or data cable, some BIOSs might not support a drive with that capacity and also power spikes. So long as the platter and heads are ok its probably power spikes that make hdds unrecognisable. That would make it a new circuits board jobby. Which is what im gonna try. It might be time for me to consider a UPS.

lol that sux , especially since I bought it about 5 months ago.
P5Q Pro. are you saying I need a new motherboard ?
I'm sure I can use some kind of warranty.

Edit : I just plugged the hard drive that wasnt responding on my main computer to another one and tryed it. didnt show up in the bios either.
must be a broken hard drive , dont ya think ?
