Blinking green dots on LG L246WH-BN

VIC 20

Geek Trainee
Hi,

This week I received a new 24" LCD display from LG (L246WH-BN).

I use it as an additional display for my MacBook.

While testing the display I noticed that on 1920x1200 resolution I get these green blinking pixels groups on certain areas of the screen (mainly on some dark grey coloured areas).
I want to emphasize that they are not visible all the time... only on the aforementioned grey areas.
See this video to see what I mean :) (3 MB):

Another situation where these green blinking dots/tears appear is on 1600x1200 resolution with black background. This time it looks like the matrix screen saver :) See this other video (2.5 MB):

Cables used:
MacBook --> mini-DVI to DVI adapter --> DVI to HDMI -cable (7 m) --> LG display

Does anyone know what these green blinking "stars" are?

I don't know too much about the way LCDs work so I cannot say anything for sure. But if you don't like the way it operates you could exchange it. Since the pixels are not dead you can claim there is something wrong with the monitor. If they ARE dead pixels, you have to have like 7 or 8 or more of them to claim eligibility for an RMA.
