Ok! lets try this, Disconnect the floppy drive, Cd Rom.......Just boot with your HDD and see what comes out then.
Considering your previous posts.............. 1. Another HDD works in your PC.(Which means cable is fine) 2. Your HDD is not detectable in the BIOS.(Which means either loose connection or Dead HDD). 3. You have added your HDD into another machine and still no luck, which makes sure that its your HDD problem. Resolution.... Buy a new HDD.. Recovery... Your HDD is not even detectable by your system, so nothing can be done by a software. You have to go to the Pros for the recovery. What they do is, they take out the disk inside of your HDD and put it into a working HDD and will recover the data but they charge very heavily.
ok , if i get a working hdd, am i able to get the data out myself by taking out the disc and putting it in a working hdd instaed of paying the heavy charges?
i assume ur hard drive spins. basically u know the jumpers i told u about, remove that jumper to make it a slave. every drive has them. connect this hard drive to a worlking bootable hard drive, ur friends or sumone. do into disk management and make sure the hard drive gets detected and copy all of your files, simple as. also turn off ur floppy drive from the bios and put the boot order to hard drive first. the 'insert boot disk a:' comes up becoz ur boot order is set to floppy drive first.
right, i have set the jumper to slave and plugged the hard drive that doesnt work into the one that does and it detects as a slave srive. but when i log into the pc i am unable to the hard drive as another drive ??? how do i get it to show so i can get my data from it?
your BIOS may not be set to auto HDD detection on all drives re enter the BIOS and set all 4 IDE devices to auto, then the drive should be detected by BIOS
ok I have entered the bios and set all drives to auto, when booting up it dispalys primary master = hard drive slave master = hard drive etc etc but i am still unable to see or find my 2nd hard drive (the one that is faulty) any more advise from anyone am i just looking in the wrong place .? i am going into my computer and cannot see it as adrive and also right clicking on my computer > manage>disk management ?? please help im desperate!!!!!
do you have Win XP Pro CD. If yes put it in your CD Drive and restart your machine. press any key to boot from your CD. then press R for repare. for select partition press 1 and hit the ENTER key. then type" chkdsk /r " it will repare automatically your system. after repareing it restart automatically..... now you can remove the CD.....
If you want to repair the Hard Drive and you don't have important files in the corrupted drive, then insert a windows installer CD/DVD/USB. boot from that, and then format the corrupt drive, install windows, then you're good to go.. Or you if that drive was partitioned to C and/or D, and your previous windows folder was in C, you only need to format C.
