Building a new computer!

Am building a new computer and i just can't think of what parts to get. So need to know what parts i should get for a more gaming and surfing type of computer the whole nine yards everything.
 
What's your budget?

Motherboard: Chaintech VNF4 Ultra, DFI LanParty UT SLI-DR for the top-end
CPU: Athlon 64 3200+ (Venice core) Socket 939 retail for the low-end, A64 4400+ X2 on the high-end
Video card: GeForce 6600GT (take your pick on the brand), 2x GeForce 6800GTs
RAM: 512MB or 1GB (2x256MB or 2x512MB) PC3200 of a decent brand (PDP/Patriot, Crucial, Kingston)
Power supply: Enermax EG565P-VE 530W -or- PC Power & Cooling 510 SLI on the top-end
Hard drive: Western Digital 80-120GB Serial ATA 7200RPM, 8MB cache
Optical drive: Samsung or Lite-On DVD-ROM/CD-RW for the cheap, Plextor if you can afford to spend the big bucks.

You're looking at around $1000-1,500 right there, and even more if you go with the Athlon 64 X2's.

Keyboard and Mouse: Logitech/Microsoft...take your pick on the features you want.
Sound: If you're an audiophile, Audigy 2 ZS or M-Audio Revolution. If you're not, see how the on-board sound works for you, and if it sucks in your opinion, you can pick up a Chaintech AV-10 for about $25, which uses the Via ENVY 24HT sound chip.

Monitor. Unless you absolutely can't live without a flat-panel screen, go with a 19" or so flat-screen CRT from Samsung or Sony, which you can easily snag for around $200 USD. If you really want a flat-panel, Dell has some very slick units. Not exactly cheap, but if you're gaming, you'll probably want a faster response time. This doesn't apply to the standard CRT.
 
be prepared for one beast of a computer if you want to spend 3,000 on it. I would go with SLI 6800 ultra's that means two video cards running simultaneously on the same motherboard, a 3700+ or faster same core and processor listen by Big B. Also, 2gigs of ram would be good for you. I would go with everything else Big B listed as it's great stuff. Though, I would get 10,000RPM hard drives as they are pretty damn fast.

If I were you I'd definately wait for nVidia's new line of cards later this June (if all goes as planned), you'd probably kick yourself if you found out what you just bought is only half as fast as what just came out (and I'm not exaggerating much here, the GeForce 7xxx series are going to be some beastly cards, the top 7-series card is twice as fast as the 6800 Ultra in some tests). Other than that everyone has had some great ideas, I don't know if you'll need two gigs of ram but if you want to shoot for it, it can't hurt.
 
I would wait just a bit and go for ATI's Crossfire (SLI in the ATI flavor). Then you can go with 2 X850 XTPE's. W00t w00t!
 
That would be cool, though the R20's will obviously destroy even the X850 XT's, 24pipelines will trounce 12 anyway you slice it.
 
If gaming's you're thing the FX55 is still a viable choice, just oc it to the FX57 specs and save a few hundred bucks. For gaming the FX line is a little more cost effective than the X2 series though they are very nice.
 
Well, I haven't had the time to really read about X2 or Intel Dual Cores so go with somebody who has.
