call of duty problem with original cd-rom

When I insert call of duty disk 1. I get a error " Please insert the correct cd-rom select ok and restart application." Does anybody know how to fix this error. I tried reinstalling the game and no luck. The game is a original copy. I am running winxp sp2. Please help if you can. Thank You

Yes. The game has worked before. I have installed the game patch and instill nothing. The CD player is a "ASUS DRW-1608P" DVD burner. Could it be the DVD player? Please help if you can.
