Can I 'rearrange' order of hard drives?

I installed a 200GB HD (2 partitions) on an XP machine. The drive was automatically assigned as drives F: and G: as the first HD was C:, the two CD drives were D: and E:.

My question is: Can I somehow 'move' the CD drives to show as F: and G: and have the partitions of the HD show as D: and E:?

I hope I've explained this well enough for someone to understand what I want to do.

As you can tell, my knowledge is very limited in this business.

Thanks for any help.

Joe

Right-click on My Computer. Go to Manage.

Go to Disk Management.

Right-click on the drive you want to change the letter of and select an available letter and then hit ok.

You'll have to shuffle a few drives around temporarily to get around this. Any programs that have been installed on the partitons or reference an optical drive will need to be reinstalled.
