components for new build

hi, would be grateful for some thoughts on this list of components, the idea is to build a reasonably up to date rig that will be networked to my other computers but be directly driving a 43" plasma screen and used as a media centre. as well as general use( not really up to date gaming)

Case: Antec 180
CPU: Intel E6300 (CNPS8000 quietcooler)
M'board: Gigabyte GA 965P D53
Graphics:Gigabyte Radeon X1600pro (chosen for passive cooling)
Tuner : Hauppage Win TV PVR500
PSU :Tagan 380w whisper quiet
HD : 250gig Western Digital sata2
Memory ; 1Gb corsair twinXXMs2 PC5400
Optical; to be decided.
Software : Wanted to get away from microsoft but have been told linus equivalent can be tricky to set up.

So any suggestions on where i'm wastimg money or where to spend a little more.

Thats a good setup, the only things I would say are:

- Get a PSU of at least 450W with 30A or more on the 12V rail (i.e. 15A on 12V1 and 15A on 12V2 - if there are two rails).
- The x1600PRO is not the most up to date graphics card and will struggle with newer games.

What is your budget too, that will let us know how "good" this computer is in terms of how much you are willing to spend.
 
Yeah, a little more beefy PSU would be a good idea. You might also consider Seasonic's S12 line given the low-noise application here.
 
First--Thanks a lot, its really good to know someones had a look at my ideas and given a view. PSU :will diffinately uprate.
Graphics card, would like to have "good" one -not to worried about "great"one priority is outputs and low noise- but open to suggestions.
Budget ,so far I've priced this up at about £800, which seems a lot to me, seeing we are not really cutting edge, and I've got to sort out keyboard and theres bound to be a fan, lead or 2 that I've forgotten.
Could save £75 on Windows media centre and go the linus route, but apart from the set upworries ive not tryed mixing operating systems on my network.I havnt set a top amount to spend, just want to get good value, performance etc for what ever I end up spending.
 
If you stick with passive cooling, you might be able to step up the video card just slightly to a GeForce 7600GT.

You can run various OS's just fine, so running Linux wouldn't cause problems. If it did, there'd be no way I'd have WinXP, Win2k, and Linux (CentOS, to be specific) coexisting on the same network flawlessly.
