Computer not starting, blinking green light-HELP!

I have an hp computer i got a few years ago and it has been getting obsolete for my needs so i purchased a new computer from ibuypower.com(very happy with it) so i unplugged my old computer and hooked up my old one. When i hooked up my old computer to another outlet it wouldnt boot(no noises, no fans, no nothing) there was just a blinking green light next to the power plug on the back of the computer.
Now i checked the power connections several times and checked the outlets power and everything seems to fine. The computer was working just 2 hours earlier before i unplugged it and now its dead!
I also opened it up and maade sure nothing was unplugged or dislodged in the moving process and everything there seems to be in order as well.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as i need to transfer a bunch of info from the old comp to the new one.

right, is the blinking light the power light ? try using the power cable from your new pc on your old pc and see if that works, what O/S is on your old pc
 
the light is on the back panel of the computer right next to the plug, so yes i guess its the power light. Also it's O/S is windows xp and yes i tried both plugs and i get the same result from both.
 
For the time being, you should unplug the hard drive and connect it to your new computer. Transfer your files, then put the hard drive back into the old computer. You can troubleshoot the old computer once you know your data is safe!

sound to me like it could be a bad PSU but not sure, guess i'll leave you in mega's very capable hands, and i'll check back later
 
Check the power cord and outlet.
Check the power supply's connector to the motherboard. Disconnect and reconnect to be sure its firmly connected.

Check the power supply. If you can test it in another PC, try it.

Check the power switch on the PC's case and make sure it's properly connected to the motherboard. Try shorting the jumper pins that the switch uses to power on the PC. If that works, the switch is bad.

Make sure the motherboard surface is not making contact with the metal case (except at its mounting points). Take the motherboard and power supply out of the case and place them on a non-conductive surface (wooden table, etc.). If it boots, something was probably shorting out in the case.

once your PC powers on and gives you a blank screen (won't boot), we will try to solve further~!
