Computer running slow?

My computer has been running very slow over the past few months, so i use Mcafree to check my computer for viruses and spyware and removed them but my computer is still running very slow and my internet is also slow but when i use my laptop with the same internet connection it is fats, so i am just asking what else can i do?

I'd try using [google]MS Antispyware[/google] instead and do a scan with that. Also try making sure there aren't too many processes or system tray programs running. go to start>run>msconfig>startup to see what is starting up.
 
maybe a program is slowing down your computer, as i had a problem once were i had a bad instalation of AVG Antivirus, and my computer was slowing down alot, so slow, things like my documents were crashing, i uninstalled it, and everyhitng was running fine again.

so check all your programs.
 
might wanna do a clean install of windows, I notice slowing after a month or so after a clean install. windows is never the same after a virus anyway.
 
I have fixed the problem, in the end i had to reinstall the whole of windows xo but its all running fine now:)
