Connecting 5 IDE devices (additional IDE slots?)

Getting an IDE controller card. You're looking at anywhere between $15-50 for one.

If you haven't bought another hard drive yet, you might want to get a SATA one instead of an IDE since you have SATA ports on your motherboard.

You can also get an IDE to SATA coverter, but these cost almost as much as an IDE card, and, at least in the past, there's been some reliability issues with them.

looking at the different cards, is there a difference between a $15 one and a $100 one? Any you recommend from the following list? Thanks!

The $100 is more likely to offer advanced RAID functions like RAID 5. Mid-range cards may offer RAID 0 and 1. The more expensive cards may also have a processor to do the calculations for RAID and also some on-board RAM or a slot for RAM (which acts as a buffer in RAID)

Those $13 Rosewill branded are really all that you're gonna need given what you've been saying. The more expensive cards would be good if you were looking to run a cheap, but quick server by going with IDE instead of SCSI.

addin one more HDD will utilize ur power supply and will take more space. Shortage of power supply can harm or sometimes damage your computer.
If I would be in your place, I would upgrade the HDD not add one more.
 
dear reelss, i don't know what would be the most efficient, thats why i said it would be the easiest way to go
 
Hard drives don't consume a whole lot of power...we're talking 5-10W, maybe 15W on some high-end SCSI drives, but that's about it. Very minimal, not like what a video card or CPU upgrade could do.
