Data Recovery?

its possible its an electrical fault... which would make more sensce as to why the laptop wont start.

Im thinking you would be better off trying to recover the files from the living hdd.

what is the "important stuff" that was on the drive?

if it was music, ripped dvds etc then you could just download them (saves you the effort of having to find all thoose discs again)....

please go here to followup on this problem

was the info copied from your working hd to your faulty hard drive? if it is, you can still recover it without freezing your hd, dropping it, shooting it, kicking it etc:P

@roy92, yes newpaws did copy the data from the working drive to the (now) faulty one, and that has been considerd as an option :P

This thread has also moved from here to HERE (im guessing newpaws started 2 threads....)

Read through the tips on that link (CLICK HERE) it has the freezer one on it... make sure you seal the bag you put the hdd in!

ive tried that just to see whether it was a joke or not as the ocndensation wud mees the computer up. i did it on my old computer and left n old drive for about 30-60mins in a sealed food bag and took it out, there was some condensation but wen i put it back into the computer, nothing got messed up or anything so i think that it is pretty safe although i wud still put the drive back into an old computer rather than risking a new athlon 64 4400+ with SLI etc
