Display resolution and desktop one does not match.

Hi guys. I'm having this annoying problem when i installed the latest Nvidia drivers. The desktop resolution does not match my LCD one. My vid card is a 7600GS and the display, a Viewsonic VA1912WB. I set my desktop to 1440x900, the Nvidia software has had set, windows has that set, but when i check in my monitor for the resolution, it says 1280x960, resulting in an stretched image and i have to "move" the desktop in order to see it all.

I reinstalled Nvidia drivers, monitor drivers, and no luck at all. Is there some registry value or tweak that will help me out?

Thanks!!

i've looked on net & can't find anything about a grfx card "overscanning" a monitor, however, it appears that your grfx card & monitor are not using the same standard (PAL or NTSC) although i also don't know how to fix it

but you may find this usful

First of all, I appreciate your effort in searching the net. The funny thing about this, is that the monitor and video card were working ok previous to my driver change. I'll see if going back to the older version will fix this and if so, i'll report Nvidia.

I actually had this issue. The new drivers work perfectly well. What you have to do is go into your nvidia control panel, then create a custom resolution. Under advanced you'll notice that the y pixels are set incorrectly. I'm guessing that you are running a 1440x900 resolution as almost all of my research lead to this resolution. So just change the pixel width to 1440 and you will be fine. I apoligise I havent got the exact terminology but I'm at work atm and havent got the nvidia control panel. Let me dig for the link that helped me and I'll post it in a bit.

Here's basically what you need to do: NVIDIA Forums -> 1440x900 Widescreen
