download speed problem

First of all I have verizon fios 25mb/s down and up. I have have been using it for a few years now with no problems until a couple of weeks ago. I know my connection is working fine. I am sure the problem is my machine. Heres what happens. I start downloading using a download manager. I get 3.3mb/s to start the download then all of a sudden the mb/s drops to zero and i have to stop the download and then resume to get it going again. I have tryed different download managers and download from many different servers with the same results. I have seen this problem in other forums and was never able to find an answer.
I am hoping someone here has an answer. Thanks

Maybe you should get a friends computer and hook it up to your Internet connection to see if the computer is actually fault. It may very well be that the vendor is doing some maintenance or branching the bandwidth somewhere around your neighborhood (I know that sounds a bit far fetched, but that has been known to cause problems...)

I would have to agree,try another computer to rule out the computer being the problem, to me it sounds like it is your Service..
