Dual Core question

I need to upgrade my PC so it can cope with Stalker.

I need to get a Dual Core so I can run Stalker as it should be run, but I've got an AGP motherboard. Can I still use a Dual Core with an AGP board or do I need to replace it.

AGP has nothing to do with the CPU. AGP means Accelerated Graphics Port (a slot to put AGP graphics cards in). You just need to make sure that the dual core cpu has the same socket number as the motherboard.
 
And depeding on your graphics card, your not gonna be able to play stalker on good settings anyway, unless you got X1950 series etc..
 
Okay, another stupid question from someone who has little, or no, idea.

What's the difference between dual core and core duo? Is one better than the other?
 
Core Duo, and Core 2 Duo are processor families from Intel. They're the successor to the Pentium and Celeron families. Dual core simply means there's 2 processor cores on one processor package. It's effectively the same as running two physically separate CPU packages with a traditional one core. Core 2 Duo is dual core, but so are most, if not all Pentium D processor, various Xeon (Intel's server-oriented CPU's), AMD's Athlon64 X2 series, as well as their server chip, Opteron.
