DVD help

I built my PC awhile back but had some issues with the HD so it got a new HD and now I do not have sound when I play a DVD. I have a Plextor drive. What should my course of action be ? Thanks - A:dry:
 
Which sound u've got? Onboard or PCI??
can u see a sound icon on the right hand side of your taskbar?? Just make sure that u'vent got ur sound muted under Wave and Master volume.....
 
I have a soudblaster audigy. Nero pops up a thing about copyrights and dolby digital decoding.....I have deeper issues with this :x: methinks.....
 
It could be the sound card drivers. Download the latest drivers from the Creative website.

If that fails, try to installing the proper codecs to play DVDs.
 
I had a similar issue with first no picture and then no sound when playing dvd's and i had tried loads of different video players and it was ony recently when i got the latest version of Real player that the problem seemed to sort itself out.
 
1. Pull out and reinsert your sound card or will be much better if you try in a different PCI slot .....
2. If not done then disable your onboard sound..
3. Check in Device Manager, if you can see any yellow icon...(If yes, dat means u need drivers for your sound card).
4. You didnt told me that if you can see the sound icon on the Taskbar....>?
5. Try to play a sound file and then go to the event viewer, inside applications nd system events, see wat events errors u r getting..

It worked in the slot it is in before. No room in other slots.

Done a long time ago

Only for onboard sounds.

Yes. All my other sound/media crap works 100%

unsure how to do this.
The issue seems to be with Nero and copyright crap......
 
Do codecs have anything to do with copyright crap ?
I think the problem is with Nero. It pops up a windows that says I need to buy a plugin because of a Dolby sound copyright.I will try the codecs tonight.

Again, I had a similar problem/issue. The codec pack sorted it for me - it's worth a shot.
