every time i get comfortable and think i'm done learning i find out that there's a :swear: load more to learn[ot]i'm overwhelmed[/ot]BTW: i'm now thinking that i'll always be learning[ot]sh1t[/ot]BTW: i even doubt my own name
 
When I first installed an SATA drive, I didn't know that you had to connect a cable from the PSU to the drive :P. (wondering why the drive wasn't visible in the BIOS...)

never even seen a SATA drive or used one[ot]i'm still on old IDE as i can't afford a controller but i think the mobo i'm using (cheapo) has an onboard controller, & my PSU has power connectors for SATA so my next drive will probably be a SATA[/ot]
 
I usually keep reading up on the latest. I don't always run into it immediately, nor does it always make sense then, but it does keep me up to speed on what's going on. I don't have Core 2 Duo or a GeForce 8800GTX on tap, but I do know a few things about why they're top-tier parts. People ask, and having to regurgitate the info solidifys it in my mind as I have to think in order to explain it. Right now, most of the stuff I've not physically played with is fiber optic networking and SAS equipment (Serial Attached SCSI), but that gets into server-grade hardware which, simply for fiddling around with, I'm not interested in dropping the cash on.
