Finally My MAG 19" Died,.. Is it time for an LCD?

My Monitor Just died Just about 5 minutes ago. Now ofcoures I have to buy a new one. I was wondering if it would be better to buy an LCD (Saves a lot of space). But my knowledge about LCD is very weak. So any suggestions.
Budged $400 (LCD does't have to be 400, could be less). Since my monitor was 19",so I think the LCD should be atleast 19". Is there anything good out there?
OR there always an option of going back to CRT,..:confused:

Well, there is a trade-off between CRT and LCD. The obvious upside to LCD is the super compact size. The obvious downside is the price. The not-so-obvious downside is the fact that to get an LCD that will look like a CRT as far as image quality, i.e. no ghosting and truly black black,you have to shell out some serious bucks. It is all in how much you want to pay.
 
Considering that All major manufactures of Monitors are making LCDs now, are CRT's still at par with LCD's.
 
The other thing to consider is LCDs save you money by using less power. I have heard that they save you like 10 dollars a month though I don't know. I have seen 19" on TigerDirect.com for 190 after rebates, but they charge like 20 dollars shipping.
 
One thing to factor is in the native resolution of the LCD. Certain LCD's are optimized for a particular resolution and will look best at that setting.

Personally, a decent flat 19" CRT can be had for under $200, so factor that in. Before you buy, I'd make sure to look at different ones and see what you like. Samsung makes some of the best flat CRT's for the money out there. Sony is also excellent, but being Sony, the prices are rather painful to swallow.

Monitors and cases are the two things that will cost you big bucks to get shipped in, so this is one item that you may be better off buying locally if possible.
