I'm sure many people buy it. I mean if i was rich, i would definately buy it, but some people probably get it so that they are prepared for the future, you know?

if last christmas i got pci-express, i would get one of these, i just would not of bought the x800xt pe, and waited, i would have £400, and managed to get another £200 from somewere for it, imagine 4 of these on the new dual SLI gigiabyte board :o

I can't see the price staying that high for very long. Yes, some people can afford them, but even then, there's a point where people will just forget it. $750 for a non-workstation video card is a tough pill to swallow. I'd expect to see it settle around $500-600 or a little less if they want to sell these for Christmas.

I think it would be cool but totally pointless aside from benchmarks. I mean sure these cards will last a while but one would be way more than enough and by the time it's not a way cheaper card will replace it with more features and power. But yeah for the righ why the hell not.

Mine. 6800's, 2gb, damn it's one hell of a pc. she bought it because she was told a better video card will make her digital pictures look better.
