Ghost Recon 2 experiences?

Wouter

Big Geek
I'm looking for a new game to buy, and I was wondering if anyone here has experiences with the game Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (GRAW2). Would you recommend it?

I've got it, and it's a very good game but it's incredibly easy, I was able to finish it on Hard mode in a few days, but it's got a good bit of replayability, the story is fantastic and the online mode is great. I'd recommend it personally. :)

I've played a demo on the PS3, and I didn't like it. GRAW 1 is much better, with the graphics, the features and the storyline. Part 2 has one cool feature, and that is the option to take cover behind a wall (like Splinter Cell). But that's about it. My opinion in this game is apparently different than WWR, but I would suggest to play a demo and see for yourself :)

I like easy games, especially because I do not play 'action-heavy' games very often... I like my action 'easy' (though sometimes challenging) and my thinking (puzzles, story) complex.

Also I did not realize there was a demo. Was not there last time I looked (although admittedly that was quite a while ago).

You can take cover against any wall in both the GRAW games in the same way.

For the sake of the storyline I'd recommend you try out GRAW 1 first, as GRAW 2 continues directly after the end of the first game.

But if you don't like action-heavy games, you might not like GRAW at all, it's totally combat-orientated but in a more tactical frame of mind. It's mainly about getting into a good position where you can safely take out your enemies without being in much danger yourself. If you're looking for a game with more puzzles than action I wouldn't suggest getting GRAW.

Hi,

I like strategy and tactical games too, just not "pure" First Person Shooters (e.g. I liked Oni a lot but I would not have if it was 'just' shooting)!

I wanted to get this game also because I want to play something else than adventure games, RPG's and platform games, for a change. Rainbow Six also sounded interesting. I am not sure what other shooting games there are that have tactical combat (or puzzles) and/or good story.

RTS games are interesting too, the only problem is the mechanics usually are too complex for me to enjoy it much...

I also hugely prefer single player games. Although Guild Wars Prophecies was a lot of fun for 8 months or so.

Bought Dark Messiah for €15; got it in with the mail yesterday. Great fun; hard to put down :)

Only thing is, I wish they would add some more/longer 'calm' moments in between 'scenes', where you can explorer the scenery and talk to the locals. That and a longer/more detailed backstory. Well I just started so hopefully it'll change for the better. The action is top-notch however, although it is kind of awkward knowing which button you have to push for your utility belt... so it took too long to take out my sword and I was kiiiilled... :l

I highly recommend (if you haven't already got it) Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. A simply amazing game, with a rich storyline and enough content to keep you occupied until the cows come home and learn to fly.

Yeah, I got tired of it after a month or four... I disagree with the storyline though; I think it's pretty run-off-the-mill and not very interesting. Then again, I suppose it's better than most big-budget games that come out.

The best part of the Oblivion storyline was the Dark Brotherhood quest-line. A very talented writer is behind that and that person has been given the job of writing the whole Fallout 3 storyline.

Well, among all the factions in OB, I agree that the DB quests were the best.

Thanks to Emil Pagliarulo , from the Thief project, right ;)
