Hey HWF,

Just wanted to let you know I won't be very active for a while, since I've just started a new job which is about 150 miles away from my home. I'm planning on a relocation, but until we can find a decent place in the area looks like I'll be couching it at my parent's house for a bit (they live only 15 minutes from my new employer). I'm typing this on my old cheesy laptop, which I must say is very uncomfortable to type on, across a congested wireless network. Anyway, keep being a great community and I'll see much more of you once I get settled.

I am a network support engineer. I've been self-employed for a while, so it will likely be a bit strange going back to a structured corporate environment with a long chain of command and soforth. But I've done it in the past, and they seem very serious about getting me in there, so I'm confidently optimistic.
 
Just being nosey.....

Do you specialise in Software or hardware or both?
Can you actualy seperate the two when it comes to networks?

I prefer corporate, I would not like to be self employed.
I doubt I would get out of the bed in the morning.....

I like being self-employed, you make much more money and you have a lot more freedom. On the other hand, medical care in this country is horrible and the only way to get even reasonably decent coverage is with corporate or government benefits. The US is geared to make things extremely difficult for individuals and small businesses to survive. On that note my wife hates the uncertainty associated with being business owners, which is what led me to this decision.
