hey i have a nividia xfx gts250 1 gb gpu on my pc
im on the lookout for a new gpu, i have to admit though that im not the biggest gamer around though i enjoy a few games now and then
this gpu is actually the first gaming card that i got (i know its a economy class card on the lower level) but before ive mostly had oem laptops and desktops, so my first build was with this card
the sad thing is that its not that long ago i bought this card cause of my lack of knowledge about gpu cards at that time made me go out and get a "old card like thegt 250" when i could have got a 5770 for the same price or even cheaper or put in a few more bucks and got the 5850
or the 5870
now having read little deal about gpus the last few months im seing theres a lot of exciting things happening, the fermi cards are just here
and nividia are probably gonna release the 460 and 2 more economy cards in the 4xx series, also new drivers for the 470-480s is coming
and even though i d love a gtx 480 or a 470 i thinkmaybe its a bit overkill since im really not much of a gamer as mentioned
so im thinking about going for either the 5770 or maybe wait for the new 460 nividia card
what i really want to ask is how much better is the 5770 than my current card
i know its a direct x11 card and a whole other buildfoundation and that its a ddr5 card etc
but my current card isnt that bad ,i just played through bad company2 with no lag on medium
also checked out a few other games like just cause (wich isnt the most graphichungry game i know)
so comparing my gts 250 maybe the 5770 isnt that far away
is it worth it? is it a good deal better
or should i go for the 5850

bad company works on the 5770 at max settings without any lag, so it is better than the 250, but I would advise to go for something like the 5850 or 5870 definitely. the 5770 wouldn't be that much of a gain.

kk thnx thats what i thought,i think im gonna look into either the gtx 470 or the 5850
or wait to see the specs on the new fermi cards that are due soon ,the gtx460

well, I think that the geforce cards will be definitely more mature in terms of the utilization of DX11 and also (maybe even thus) better in performance.
