eli dies at the end of episode 2 i got quite sad because gordon has known eli throughout the series and also when eli has a quite word with gordon alone he thinks of gordon as his son and praises gordon for all his work

also what is the G MAN what does he do
 
The G-man is a sinister person who's real purpose seems to be a mystery, but he does seem to have a lot of knowledge and control of the entire situation, it's explained quite well in the ending of Half Life 1. I think they'll reveal more about him as the series continues.
