Hard Disk Dynamic errors

Hi,

Got a 160gb HDD that has had a little knock and now when i go into computer managenet in admin tools this disk is described as dynamic rather than basic, Also the there is an exclamation mark and the word errors in brackets as part of its description.

The hard drive seems to work fine - is this gonna cause any problems or is there a fix?

Run chkdsk "drive" -r to check the drive (where "drive" is your drive designation) and repair any bad sectors if at all possible. See if that removes the yellow exclamation mark and "error" text.

What did you mean by "had a little knock " ? If the drive had physical damage you may have to do a full format to map out the bad areas on the platter. And even then it can still be unreliable. :(
