HD Resolution Issue

Hi all, I have an issue connecting my PC to my HDTV and getting HD resolution.

Specs on my machine:
Dell dimension xp desktop, 2.66 ghz, 1.5GB ram. RADEON 9250 PCI card, RADEON 9800 AGP Card. Running Win XP SP3. Television is a 50" Panasonic DLP.

I have a VGA connection on my HD television, and I have the RADEON 9800 attached to the tv. The problem is the VGA connection doesn't seem to support any resolutions higher than 1024X768.

I am wondering if there is something I can do to either get the VGA to work in a higher resolution, or if there is a PCI graphics card out there with an HDMI out on it that I should buy, and just yank the 9250 out of my machine and replace it with that.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!

Hi, it will not make a difference because your tv max resolution is 1024x768.
so if you want higher resolution you will have to buy a true 1080p screen.

Sorry for double post, I didn't realize I had 2 threads going.

I bought a 55" LCD tv true 1080p. I hooked it up via my VGA port to the radeon 9800. It will now except 1920x1080 resolution, but it does not display the full desktop. Instead it scrolls around as I move the mouse. So, will it play a video that is 1080 p properly? I use vlc as my media player if that matters at all.
